Shortly after getting back from our Japan trip (Sep-Oct, 2017), we set off on another cruise adventure - our first river cruise! Lucky us, eh? This time we were off to Europe for a 7-night river cruise on the Danube river. We had been wanting to try river cruising for some years and this itinerary featured all ports of call that we had never been to before, so it was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. We flew into Frankfurt a couple of nights before the cruise to adjust to the time zone, and then stayed a few nights after the cruise to experience more of Budapest.
The whole trip was very active, and featured some truly memorable sights, locations and experiences. For our first river cruise - we chose well - we were cruising with Scenicº River Cruises on one of their "Space Ships", the Scenic Opal. Their "Gems of the Danube" itinerary took us from Nuremberg, Germany through Austria to Budapest, Hungary. There was so much to see and do, we would happily do that itinerary again. A river cruise is a fantastic way to experience much of the history that Europe has to offer.
